Joining to Grow

For soil, we thank, prepare and fertilize,
that brings forth food and fiber that we planned.
Attentive eyes behold what multiplies,
when soil and farmer join to bless the land.

And, so it is with what God would produce;
He sends His word into a needy earth.
Prepared and seeking, some His message choose,
while crowds pass by, not conscious of its worth.

I'm asking, "Now, Oh Lord, enrich my soil;
break up the stones that hold Your love at bay,
that I would bring forth harvest in my toil,
with joy to share, and growing Your wise way."
